The Inspector General

Things that we have been doing carelessly we can, at any moment, decide to do carefully. It helps to rescue some of our life from the auto-pilot state. Just simple things like straightening the book we are putting on the desk so that it is exactly even with the edge of the desk, not just any which way. If we are writing checks to pay bills, we could do it neatly this time. If we are finished with our towel we could fold it exactly before we hang it up. Any conscious act pulls us a little more from our state of unconscious oblivion to the present moment.
