the ignominy and pain of a faux pas or a social mistake is
a wonderful way to learn to not take ourselves so seriously.
The experience of embarrassment willingly undergone is a true
pilgrim's progress of the soul. To just stand there quietly
and let ourselves reverberate with the electric shock of it.
It feels like we are dying. But it isn't us. It is only our
fear dying. You think our fear is going to leave like a thief
in the night? Nope. We handle fear by greeting it like an
old friend, and letting it wash through us like a wave.
